Homework Policy
Homework will be sent home every Monday. Homework is returned that Friday.
Homework is a chance for you to work with your child at home. It also allows you to know what we are working on in class. We recommend a quiet place and a routine when it comes to doing homework.
Reading- Your child will have a reading folder that comes home every night. In the folder will be a book that they have read in class. They are to read the book to you. After they read ask them questions about the book. Guide them by asking simple questions: Where is the setting of the story? Who are the main characters? What was the problem in the story? Lastly, how did the character solve the problem. If your child brings home a non-fiction book, you can have them tell you what they learned from the book. Questions like: Why do you think the author wrote this story? What facts did you learn from this book? Please be sure to sign the top of the homework paper for each night.
Vocabulary- Vocabulary home work will be sent home on Monday and returned to school on Friday. Please take time to do the activities with your child. You will do 2 Word Work activities a week as well as 2 Quick Writes a week. Homework is to be completed in the Vocabulary journal.
Math- Math homework will come home on Monday and needs to be returned on Friday. Math home work will always be a review of what has been taught in class. There will also be games that are sent home from time to time to practice the skills taught in class.
